Apulian luminarie: a handcrafted tradition
Today you will have the chance to discover a symbol and iconic element of Apulian celebrations and festivals: Luminarie.
Today you will have the chance to discover a symbol and iconic element of Apulian celebrations and festivals: Luminarie. These impressive light sculptures usually adorne the streets and facades of Apulian towns, when it comes to celebrate the saint patron, or the event venues during special occasions such as weddings and festivals.
Nowadays, they have turned into a design light object to decorate Apulian houses and Masseria. Under the vaulted ceilings and within the lime-plastered stone walls, Donato Potenza, author of the original Lucciole di Puglia collections, which he makes by hand using traditional methods, will lead you on a discovery of Puglia’s most authentic roots. He will receive you with a welcome drink based on typical Apulian seasonal products and will take you on a tour of the studio located in Fasano.
In the second part of the experience, after a historical introduction on the traditional art of illuminations, there will be a practical part: starting with a wooden base already painted, you will make a small luminaria, which you will take home with you!
